The Phone-A-Thon is an annual even that the Gopher Wrestling Club sponsors to help raise funds for the club. The Gopher Wrestling Club helps to support our graduate assistants as they pursue their dreams of competing at the World and Olympic Championships. Current members of the club include Gopher greats C.P. Schlatter and Dustin Schlatter and also Bucknell standout Kevin LeValley. Current Gophers Pat Smith and Jake Kettler are also utilizing an Olympic Redshirt year to try and make the Olympic team this summer.

 

The club will also help fund the trips that the Gophers take to the FILA Junior Nationals in Madison, WI and also University Nationals in Akron, OH. These trips are vital to the success of our folkstyle season by giving all of the Gophers a chance to compete at a high level in the off-season. Without the club, we would not be able to take a team to these great events and we would lose a part that makes our program so strong.

 

Outside of training for the World and Olympic games, our senior level competitors have a strong presence in the room during the season. Having practice partners like C.P, Dustin and Kevin is a key to the success that the Gopher Wrestling program has had. We would also like to add recent graduates Zach Sanders (4 time All-American) and Sonny Yohn (3 time All-American) to our staff. These two have had a lot of success and would add to the quality of our practice partners. Our 2nd place finish at nationals has a lot to do with the funding that the Gopher Wrestling Club provides to have recent graduates train in our room.
